Who we are
This website is operated by Autopharm Ltd (“Autopharm”, “we”, “us”), Unit 4, Coach Gap Lane, Langar, Nottingham, NG13 9HP. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at sales@autopharm.co.uk or on 0115 784 3529.
Information we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us through this website:
- Contact and part enquiries — your name, email address, phone number (optional), vehicle details or registration (optional) and your message.
- Scrap car enquiries — vehicle registration and details, the vehicle’s condition, the postcode and (if collection is requested) the address where the vehicle is kept, access information, preferred collection times, and your name, phone number and email address.
- Technical information — like most websites, our hosting provider may record your IP address, browser type and pages requested in server logs for security and troubleshooting. We use your IP address briefly to prevent abuse of our forms (rate limiting).
If you use the “Check vehicle” registration lookup on our Scrap Your Car form or parts finder (where available), the registration you enter is sent securely from our server to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service to retrieve the vehicle’s make, colour and year of manufacture. We don’t keep lookups, except that when you confirm the vehicle and submit a scrap enquiry, the confirmed vehicle details are saved with your enquiry.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and provide information or quotes about parts, vehicles or scrapping your car (lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries).
- To arrange and carry out any sale, collection or vehicle disposal you agree to (lawful basis: performance of a contract and compliance with legal obligations, including record-keeping obligations that apply to vehicle disposal).
- To keep our website and forms secure and prevent spam (lawful basis: legitimate interests).
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for marketing unless you have separately asked us to.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where necessary, with:
- service providers who host this website and deliver enquiry notifications to our team on our behalf, under appropriate data protection terms;
- government bodies such as the DVLA where the law requires it (for example when a vehicle is scrapped);
- professional advisers, regulators or law enforcement where required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information only for as long as necessary for the purposes above, including any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. Records relating to vehicles we have taken in or disposed of may need to be kept for longer to meet legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website only uses storage that is strictly necessary for it to work: your cookie choice is saved in your browser’s local storage, and staff who sign in to our administration area receive a secure session cookie. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
We count how many times our “WhatsApp us” buttons are pressed: a daily total for each kind of page, with nothing about who pressed them and nothing stored on your device. If you then message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to that chat.
Our contact page can show an embedded Google Map. Google may set cookies when the map loads, so the map is only loaded if you choose “Allow embedded maps” or press “Load map”. You can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. See Google’s privacy policy.
Links to other websites
Our website links to our eBay UK store and other websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, or restrict how we use it, in certain circumstances;
- object to us using your information on the basis of our legitimate interests;
- ask us to transfer your information to another organisation in certain circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, email sales@autopharm.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, but we would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Security
Enquiries are sent to us over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and stored on systems with restricted access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
